The final architectural design brings vaguely to mind the idea of a sailing ship resting in a marvelous plain surrounded by the marvelous scenery of the Maritime Alps. The stiff matter ranging from the cement to the glass seems to become "pliable" to create a poetic image, the underlying theme of a new and eye-catching architectural form. As you approach the construction, it seems to be shaped by the wind and the aerodynamic forms that herald the function of the various parts. The large semi-circular hall is very bright and it is surrounded by a huge window that affords a panoramic view of the mountains: a first enchanting welcome to travelers. The stairwells are coated in glass and they lead to the common areas with bar, restaurant, shopping center, Internet point and waiting areas where the architectural design of the interior is blended with the soft lines of the outdoor surfaces. The bar's shape brings to mind aerodynamic models: the materials are the fruit of aeronautic language ranging from the carbon fibers to aluminum, from Plexiglas to optical fibers. At the upper floor the restaurant opens on a wide panoramic round terrace overlooking the runways and the surrounding landscape to create a breathtaking view of the airplane landing area. The materials used are quite simple, but it is the poetic aspect of the architectural whole that makes this project so extraordinary: the matching of the materials and shapes to create horizontal stripes, curved surfaces, alternating "full" and "void" spaces, opaque and transparent surfaces thus embodying the idea of immateriality or, better yet, the search for "dematerialization", which lies at the basis of the architect's language. The complex is also marked by the use that its form allows: it has the potential of becoming a multipurpose area offering conventional airport facilities, exhibition and cultural areas, areas devoted to the food and wine and to the promotion of typical local products, but also settings for exhibitions, debates, meetings and conferences. This is a new way of understanding airport facilities not just as a transit area, but also as an opportunity to promote the territory's resources, tourist itineraries and economy as well as cultural values, the creativity and liveliness of the local towns, authorities and all those who believed in this project.
