Maligno Industriarredamenti's business philosophy is based on bold and ambitious vocation for "supporting and promoting the creative side of architecture and design". The firm was established in Cuneo in 1947 drawing on its founder Salvatore Maligno's great mastery at working with ebony. Down the years the firms has developed into a leading international player in designing furniture for commercial spaces and recreation-services facilities like hotels, health centres, airport shopping spaces etc.

The firm now has a new concept of providing architects and designers with a service ranging from project design (thanks to complete mastery in methods of working with innovative construction technology and materials) to pre- and post-building support and aid and consultancy on financial matters, events management and even the co-ordination of targeted advertising campaigns.

Careful attention to the latest developments in cutting-edge products is backed up by experience the firm has developed in the field of design, working together with leading European architecture firms as part of ongoing (for years) cultural interaction based on research and new trends.

Amongst all its numerous designs (over 3,800 in fifty years' business), Maligno now markets a strong and innovative high-tech door developed based on a design by Gianni Arnaudo, a well-known figure at international level with works presented in the permanent collection of Beaobourg and in other museums with whom the firm has worked on important projects, and engineered by Giorgio Maligno. XY, which is the name of the door, can be made of stainless steel or extruded aluminium with a shiny finish. The product's absolutely innovative feature is its use of a new material composed of a technological alveolar emphasising the door's artistry. The door is not seen as just a block or rigid point of closure, but as a fluid borderline between two environments, which helps convey light and emotions.
